Dear Jules and Jeni
Dear Jules and Jeni,
My long distance relationship has been so hard since the quarantine has begun. What advice can you give me to keep my relationship alive?
Dear Lonely Love,
Long distance relationships are hard to begin with, so I can’t imagine how tough it is during this pandemic. If you can’t physically be with the one you love, you have to figure out other ways to keep your relationship going. All forms of social media can be a great asset right now.
FaceTime is a great way to start and finish your days.
You can start your day with a simple good morning. Roll over with your hair a mess, no makeup on and let them know that you care.
Then maybe a quick text to let them know that you’re thinking of them in the middle of the day. Try to be consistent and talk as much as possible.
Be playful or just simply sit on the couch and watch a movie “together”.
Talk as you normally would, but try to plan for things to do when this pandemic is over. That can be a lot of fun. If you’ve both wanted to visit somewhere special, start to plan your vacation as much as possible.
Also, don’t forget the simple things. Another suggestion may be to write a letter and mail it! This is now going back to the “old school” ways, when we didn’t have cell phones or social media. When you write someone a letter, it adds your own personal touch, which makes it that much more special. Use your imagination and take this time to appreciate all of the little things that you do for one another. Don’t give up so quickly. With a few simple new things, this relationship may end up being more amazing then you ever imagined. Please let us know how things are going and we hope this helped a bit.
